Outdoor & Nature-Based Therapy
Outdoor therapy in Austin for adults who want to bring movement, fresh air, and the natural world into their therapy experience.
Sessions combine conversation, gentle walking, and opportunities to notice what's happening within you and around you. There's no particular pace to keep or right way to experience it.
So, What Does a Session Look Like?
Pretty similar to the conversations we'd have in a traditional therapy session. Except we might be walking along a trail, sitting beneath a tree, or pausing to appreciate something that catches our attention.
We'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, both physically and in the conversation.
Some days, we might explore something that's been weighing on you for a while. Other days, we might get practical about a relationship, a difficult decision, or something happening in your everyday life.
And sometimes, we might slow down and notice what's happening in the moment. The sounds around us, the way your body responds to something we're discussing, or a thought that comes up when there's a little more room to breathe.
We don't have to turn every moment into a metaphor or make every tree mean something.
Sometimes a walk is just a walk. And we can still do meaningful work along the way.

Nature Can Be Part of the Conversation, Too

I've always been drawn to the outdoors, and I'm curious about the different ways our surroundings can shape what we notice and experience.
Sometimes being outside invites us to slow down. Sometimes movement gives us something to do while we work through a difficult conversation. And sometimes noticing what's around us can offer another way to connect with what's happening inside.
We might use mindfulness, sensory awareness, reflection, or simply the experience of being outdoors as part of our work together.
But nature doesn't have to make you feel peaceful, and there's no expectation that you'll leave every session feeling calm.
You can be anxious under a beautiful oak tree. You can feel frustrated on a sunny day. You can appreciate the scenery and still have a lot going on.
There's room for all of that.
The outdoors offers another setting for us to explore your experiences, understand familiar patterns, and get curious about what might be helpful moving forward.
Could Walk & Talk Therapy Be a Good Fit?
Maybe you enjoy being outdoors and like the idea of incorporating that into therapy.
Maybe sitting face to face for an entire session doesn't feel particularly natural to you, or you find that some conversations flow more easily when you're moving.
Or maybe you're simply curious about trying something different.
You don't need to have a certain fitness level or reason for choosing outdoor therapy.
And you don't have to choose between meaningful conversations and practical support. We can still explore family relationships, anxiety, identity, emotions, and the things you want to approach differently in your life.
Walk & Talk Therapy isn't automatically the right fit for everyone, though. We'll talk about your needs, comfort, accessibility, privacy, and whether the outdoor setting makes sense for the work we're doing.
It's an option, not a requirement.
